Sherry Turkle brought up many points that have to do with the use of technology. Many ideas I have heard before, but she explained or thought about them in a different way. A few of the main points I remember are the “Goldilocks affect” and that we “expect more from technology than from each other.” There were a few visuals in the beginning like her magazine cover in 1996 and an iPhone screen with many apps that most individuals know or use daily. Throughout the TED Talk we could see her most important quotes or ideas presented on the screen in front of us. It would go from her to a black screen with the words she was saying in white. I believe these are the most important concepts to her and she wanted them to stick with us. I also noticed her looking down quite a bit. I’m assuming this was to look at bullet points that she needed to touch on, but it kept distracting me.

Yes, the looking down was distracting to me, too. It could have been a teleprompter, but she could also probably see the images projected behind her. I found it interesting that her perspective had changed in many ways since the 90s view of the effects of technology on communication. Thanks for your response!
