Assumptions of Ethical Considerations for EBP

Nurse’s incorporate ethics into their everyday practice. They strive to give their patients’ autonomy, while maintaining justice, along with maintaining beneficence and nonmaleficence. Nurses work to care for their patients and keep them safe and healthy. Research is done to find the best ways to care for patients and to show these practices with an evidence base supporting them. Nurses may do research to find the best practices to implement in their hospital, or they may conduct their own research. In either scenario, a patient’s rights are always a constant and ethics are always considered. I believe that nurses wouldn’t want to do anything to go against the code if ethics or do anything to harm their patients. An ethical review board will always need to approve research, but nurses always have ethics in the back of their minds guiding their work.
