I feel as though this Pharmacology CAT did not go as well as my Medical Surgical one. I think it has to do with a few different aspects and I’m ready to work on those problems. First, Pharmacology is more challenging for me. Knowing specifics about drugs, especially ones I have not thought about since this class, can be a challenge. I know that this is an area I need to spend time studying and working through to prepare myself for future ATIs and the NCLEX. Secondly, I had too many questions that I could have gotten right if I hadn’t overlooked a part of the question. I remember a few instances where I knew the content but missed a key word or what the question was asking me. I think this can be avoided by thoroughly reading the questions and taking my time. My average time was 0:45 seconds, which is 0:01 seconds off from my Med Surg time. However, I did not make the same mistakes in that previous exam. I may have been more distracted this day or not taking as much time as I could have, and I plan to fix both of those pieces for my next CAT. I am happy with how the remediation went for this test and I do feel like it was beneficial to go over drugs that I was unsure about. With the knowledge I’ll be getting from Maternity/Pediatrics, and thoroughly reading and analyzing questions, I do believe I can improve my performance on the next two CATs.
